The Centre was purchased in December 2003 by GPWHP after a capital campaign raised the money necessary for purchase.  The building is the original site for Kohlmeyer's Hatchery built approximately in the 1940's. The building itself brings fond memories for those who have lived in Wymore.

Inside the Centre consists of an office, gift shop filled with wonderful Welsh items, oral history room, auditorium, display room, kitchen, two handicap accessible restrooms and storage area.                                                                                                                                               Community Coffee & Ribbon Cutting 8/13/04

President Berwyn Jones stands by the Welsh Heroes Hall of Fame Included in the Hall of Heroes are Presidents Jefferson & Lincoln, John Llewellyn Lewis-Labor Leader, Maud Powell, America's first top level violinist, Charles Evans Hughes, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to name a few. We are excited to see the Hall of Heroes grow. Please send us your nominations for Welsh Americans to be added to this hall. This is a grand way to show your children the extraordinary contributions that the Welsh people have made to the fabric of their adopted nation.

The Centre is used to interpret the story of the Welsh-Americans and the early Welsh settlers of the Great Plains through interactive displays, artifacts and oral histories. Many events are also hosted here. They include programs during the annual Sam Wymore Day's celebration, Carol Sing , celebration of St. Dwynwen's Day, a mini Gymanfa Ganu, hosting Community Coffees throughout the year, educational opportunities and much, much more.

Also owned by the group is an empty lot to the north of the building. This space was planned for a Welsh garden and sitting area. The garden is now a reality thanks to the Martha & Margaret Thomas Foundation of Wymore, the Beatrice Gage County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Norris Public Power Goodwill Fund, and by individual memorial gifts from Lois Taylor of Abilene, Texas; Lori and Cathy Williams; the Forrest 'Bud' Roberts Family of Wymore and an anonymous donor of Wymore. An 80' mural was painted by muralist David Lowenstein of Kansas, a sprinkler system has been put in, planting has started, a beautiful iron picket fence has been put around the garden area and a fund drive for a brick walkway has started.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Click here for a tour of the Centre.
